At Café Ambio, we believe great food should also be good for the environment. As a family-run business operating in some of the UK’s most beautiful locations, we recognise our responsibility to reduce our environmental impact while supporting our local communities.

Supporting Local Suppliers

Wherever possible, we source our ingredients from suppliers based in Cumbria and Lancashire. Buying locally reduces food miles, supports regional businesses and ensures our customers enjoy fresh, high-quality produce throughout the year.

Reducing Our Carbon Footprint

We are committed to lowering emissions across our business. Around 20% of our company vehicle fleet is now electric or plug-in hybrid (PHEV), with plans to continue increasing this as vehicles are replaced.

We also carefully plan deliveries and purchasing to minimise unnecessary transport and reduce our overall environmental impact.

Reducing Plastic Waste

Recycling is encouraged across all Café Ambio sites. We separate recyclable materials wherever possible and work with waste contractors to maximise recycling rates and reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill.

Energy Efficiency

We continually invest in modern, energy-efficient equipment and encourage simple energy-saving practices throughout our cafés, including responsible lighting, heating and equipment management.

Sustainable Purchasing

When selecting products and suppliers, we consider not only quality and value but also environmental impact. We actively seek products with recyclable or reduced packaging and work with suppliers who share our commitment to sustainability.
